AC/DC Project

This is a project done in cooperation with  EU culture project “Augmented City / Digital Citizenship” from Takomat.

We students at the school of games were to select a location in Cologne we though is ugly and that we either wanted to improve or replace completely. After that everyone should create a concept art and the 3D model with textures so that it could be loaded into a software Takomat developed vor VR lenses. The user then would be able to first see how a place looks like originally and then can switch to the model of how it could look like.

Musical Dome Cologne

I selected the Musical Dome that stands near the central station. Originally it was meant as a temporary substitute for Musicals in Cologne and was supposed to be demolished after a few years. That was in 1996 but it is still standing and in use, currently as a substitute for the Opera which is under construction.

The building however is not a nice sight so I’m of the opinion that it should be replaced. My suggestion is to establish a park there with a small cafe where you can sit and enjoy a nice coffee with a piece of cake or an ice on hot days in summer.

Replacement for the Musical Dome

All 3D objects except the trees and the water were done by me in Maya and textured in Substance Painter. The different models I then put together in Unity and added a first person character as well as colliders to be able to walk around freely.

This is a small clip where I walk through the Park I designed.
